47 AIR NAVIGATION SCHOOL,
QUEENSTOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
On completion of the training at Queenstown, in the Avro Anson or Airspeed Oxford navigators would be posted to an Operational Training Unit (OTU) to be 'crewed up' and complete their training in Wellingtons in readiness for posting to a squadron. Crewing up meant that the Navigator met for the first time, his Pilot, Bomb Aimer, Wireless Operator, Engineer and Air Gunners.
Some moved direct to the Middle East (Qastina, Palestine) from Queenstown for their OTU and the remainder returned to the UK
